Item of the week: Fun veils and headpieces!

Filed under: Bridal, Item of the Week! — shaycochrane @ 9:45 pm

I photographed a beautiful wedding yesterday where the bride wore a fun floral and netting headpiece designed by her own sister!  This gave me the idea for this weeks “Item of the week!”  More and more bride’s are opting for a non-traditional alternative to the classic veil.  The veil then becomes a great way to showcase your own unique style as well as pulling in other design and color elements from your wedding decor! This is a great way to personalize your look when you have opted for a more traditional styled gown.  Headpieces can be made with anything from florals to feathers and many options can be found on Etsy (and who doesn’t want one more excuse to be on Etsy!)

Here is the head piece worn by Lizzy at yesterday’s wedding in Spring Hill. (More images to come soon!)

And here are are a few other ideas to get you started…

Fun item of the week: Adorable Cake Toppers!

Filed under: Item of the Week! — shaycochrane @ 8:32 pm

These unbelievably cute cake toppers are handmade by  Lauren Alane. According to her site, “(These) cake toppers are on-of-a-kind, and are custom made to include the special details of your wedding.” I mean how cute are they?! These would even be adorable sitting around your house after the wedding or given as gifts!  I must say I also love the way they were photographed.  The little ones with the ipod are just ridiculous! You can find Lauren’s felt toppers and other adorable little felt woodland creatures (as well as pricing and other info) at:www.LaurenAlane.com.

I could not resist putting this little guy on here as well. Too cute! (Also by Lauren)

These adorable and customizable little toppers are handmade by RedLightStudio and can be tailored to your color scheme & style!

For the minimalist…try these distressed little birdies from Little Vale!

Ok…so maybe you are seeing a trend here…I think at the moment I am just obsessed with all bird related wedding items!  Maybe these cakes with inspire you do do something different with your wedding cake!

Abby and Josh E-Session!

Filed under: Engagement — shaycochrane @ 12:55 pm

Meet Abby and Josh!  Abby works for HSN (The Home Shopping Network!) and Josh owns his own home security business!  These guys were so laid back and so much fun to photograph.  Here a a few  of my favorite shots from their engagement session last Sunday in Tampa.  The highlight was definitely the vintage phone booth!!  I could have shot in that spot all day!

Sadly, a lot of people don’t see the purpose of getting engagement photos…honestly, Graham and I didn’t get them done either.  Here is the thing…your engagement photos are likely to be the only professional non-wedding day photos that you guys have taken until you have kids!  That means the only record of this stage of your life is you in a white dress and up-do and him in a tux…maybe I’m wrong here but that hardly represents the exciting, comfy, relaxed and unique day-to-day of this stage of your relationship.  Get an engagement session done to be able to put photos up in your home that remind you of this really special time in your life.  If nothing else…do it so that one day you can prove to your kids that you used to be young, good looking and cool 🙂  This shoot reminded me of why I love engagement sessions so much!

Abby and Josh – thanks for hanging out and I can’t wait to photograph your wedding in May!
